Current activities

Enrollment (e-mail / Second Life)

· Even if you have already an account and avatar in Second Life, it is advisable to make an alternate account (new avatar) for the duration of this research.

· In the Enrolment event (xx.xx.2010), we will activate the scripts used in this research. All the enlisted group members should have active scripts by the start of the exercise (Orientation Stage — see schedule below). If you do not participate the Enrollment event, you can find the script in the communication center.

· Also before the actual start (Orientation stage), one member of the group (group leader) should send an e-mail to teemu.surakka(at)tkk.fi, where s/he states the avatar names of his/her group members. If the group doesn’t participate the Enrollment event, the group leader should also arrange as soon as possible an in-world meeting the researchers so that s/he gets the permissions to use the communication center’s ATM (where the group’s Linden dollars are stored).

· Short description of the research is sent to all participants.

· There is self-paced tutorial about Second Life Business in these tutorial pages.

Next event

29.3.2010: Q&A session in communication center on every Monday 9-11. This session is general Q&A session concerning the exercise — we won’t give feedback on the business ideas in these sessions.

30.3.2010: The exercise starts officially (week 1 on the schedule below)

Deadlines

28.4.2010: End of Search stage. Groups that want to continue to Prototyping Phase are advised to form a business idea based on their experiences and course report (link to Business Idea Form is provided later).
