Virtual Business Exercise |
|
Thank you for your interest in this research. We are currently developing this business plan exercise for partnering courses that start during autumn 2009 in selected universities. These pages outline our thoughts about combining our research setting into teaching. The aim of the exercise will be: to develop a successful business idea for virtual world and to implement it within the time limits of the course and the resources given for each team. During this exercise, the students / groups will get normal teaching (e.g. about entrepreneurship or about making a business plan) either from their universities, from online courses in Second Life or from guest lecturers organized by Vinco Project. In addition to this, students will be given a tutorial into virtual worlds and into human subject research, if necessary. During the exercise, the researchers act as “venture capitalists”, giving feedback on the business idea (together with the lecturers) and investing venture capital to student’s business. The venture capital (20 000 L$) is intended to cover all the costs (land rental, services, resident fees …) of implementing small business idea in Second Life. The students retain all the rights for their work and the capital is not collected back. There will be a secondary rating (in addition to normal course grading) based on the effectiveness of the business idea (Return On Investment) that is intended to steer the students to use venture capital only for a real need. Top performers according to this rating will be awarded with an additional venture capital after the research phase. Do not hesitate to contact us — our contact information can be found below and we will also update these pages along the way.
